1.

Abandoned by her husband, she held her baby close. Standing tall and strong, she protected him from the violent, reckless storms. Despite everything, she took care of the baby, never letting him feel deprived of any happiness he was worthy of.
She worked all day, and all night, just to give her son the best of everything.
With her smiles and her love, she filled the vacant space of a father in her son's life.
Soon, came the time of filling examination forms and college admission forms.

He didn't even remember her father's name, properly.
And, why should he? His mother had molded him into what he was. His father was long gone.
His mother deserved to be known as his 'parent'.
His mother had 'given birth to, nurtured and raised' his. NOT his father. His father had just lent him his sperm.

Why was his father given so much importance, whereas his mother was just sidelined?
This unfairness is a direct consequence of partriarchy.
Patriarchy lies in the very roots of our system.
A wife is always "Mrs. Husband's name", but a husband is never "Mr. Wife's name."
Why?
Why should the man be a family's, or a woman's identity?
Why?
Why should the man be a family's, or a woman's identity?
Why is a daughter call as her parents' 'son' when she supports them?
Why is a wife's identity said to be incomplete without a husband?
Why is a child's identity questioned without a father?
Why is a single mother not given the importance she deserves?
Why is a wife's identity said to be incomplete without a husband?
Why is a child's identity questioned without a father?
Why is a single mother not given the importance she deserves?
The answer to all these questions remains the same- PATRIARCHY.
The existence of a man in the life of a woman should not be essential.
Every single person on this planet should have his own identity. No one should have to borrow his identity of anyone. No one should feel incomplete with the absence of a person in their life.
The very roots of the system need to change for the tree to grow taller, stronger and more beautiful.
